The Perfect Gift

For my money nothing was better than our class Christmas gift exchange at St. Mary's Elementary. Any present was good, but opening a package that contained a Life Savers Storybook was the best. I loved those Storybooks so much that I wrapped one up every year to donate to the class collection, and then I'd vie to retrieve my own gift from the bin. No pay-it-forward altruism for this candy lover. I was all about the treats and once obtained, I rarely shared.

I am told that to truly appreciate a Life Saver, one must allow the candy to slowly dissolve but I've never been able to get past the initial taste before uncontrollably biting into it. This comes in handy with the Pep O Mint pack when, if chewed in the dark, sparks supposedly fly from the chewer's mouth. However, I've never tested this hypothesis. Without the patience to find a dark closet, I always eat the Pep O Mints in the light.

I could make a book lat until July! Wild Cherry was my hands-down favorite.

Hi Liz! I couldn't make my book last past the school day! I think I was partial to butterscotch.
