The farmers at our local market know that I am a Mexican Sour Gherkin geek. But this year the tiny cucumber wanna-be has been even rarer than usual. Thankfully my State Fair compadre C donated a baggy of her Blue Ribbon winning gherkins to my dinner. I tossed them with ground cherries, tomatoes, onions, peppers, and cilantro for an autumn salsa salad which was refreshing over thin sliced grilled pork.
Meanwhile over in Crock-Pot Country... Called to the Table pays homage to Turkey-to-Go. Who knew there could be so many State Fair references this late in September?
