Group Facilitation and Food at The Fair

Monday night our eager group hit the Fair Grounds, intent on showing our newbie Wisconsinite a good time at her First Fair.

We left with nine, and picked up additional participants along the way.  First stop: Newbie's first Fair Food at the Perfect Pickle and a super Perky Perfect Pickle Attendant.  Group consensus: delicious.

We hit the EuroBobble for some laughs, then headed to Blue Moon.  In the past I've had some mediocre food there, but their Korean Taco is pretty nice.  Group consensus: delicious.  Let the games begin!

We collected some additional participants and headed to Tejas Beer Garden.  BeerGaritas all around.  Group consensus: delicious and refreshing.  And outside of the Garden we started getting hits for our Scavenger Hunt (shirtless men and smoking teens!  still no cougar sightings although I've expanded this particular element to include the neighboring Roseville cougar...).

Over in the Bizarre we collected an additional participant, and two of us shared the Camel on-a-stick. Duo consensus: eh (texture like an overcooked meatball, but decent sauce).

At Dave's BBQ we grabbed a bucket of chocolate bacon.  Group consensus: one is plenty.  Share a five-cup with four friends.  We met up with our final participant (we finally totaled twelve) and hit the Education Building for our annual group photo. Considering that two of our participants are teachers, it seems ever more appropriate to have our event documented by Education Minnesota.

B and I tried the corndog pizza.  Duo consensus: don't bother.

T devoured his Favorite Fair Food; Walleye Boat. Don't ask him to share, although we did and he begrudgingly did so.  Group consensus (as always): delicious again this year!

B and I moved on to Sausage Sisters to taste the cheese and sausage jalapeno poppers. Duo consensus: hot and yum! I'll be recreating this treat on the grill this weekend. Douse the heat with some of that great Nitro ice cream.

A footlong corndog with a chaser of fries ended our grazing.  The food was so distracting that I've yet to see the completed group Scavenger Hunt results.

Now, as promised, a double posting of STATE FAIR TRIVIA CONTEST.

Tuesday, August 31 - Day Six of the 2010 Great Get-Together!

One of the best rendezvous at the Fair is in the Fine Arts Building. Check it out this year and briefly describe a piece of art that moved, thrilled or titillated, disturbed, or tickled you. Descriptions may come in any form that excites you: songs, drawings, photos, etc. will be accepted. The Fair IS Art.

Wednesday, September 1 - Day Seven of the 2010 Great Get-Together!

Easy: What activities and exhibits are new to the Fair this year? (One point for each correct answer)

Challenge: What fun and unique animal costume show contest takes place at 5 PM tonight (Wednesday, September 1)? (Five points for correct answer)

Tuesday's afternoon Chef at Renewing the Countryside brought these in for his salad demo. They were delicious! He gets them from a farmer in Wisconsin, and I intend to ask my favorite Hort Prof for a lead.
