Let Them Eat Cake and Read "Yes, Chef"
Knowing what a food geek and Marcus Samuelsson devotee I am, my sister Cheryl invited me and our mom to visit her book club when they discussed Samuelsson’s memoir, “Yes, Chef.” On a overcast day that promised the first snow of the new year, we headed to Gaylord for an afternoon of good food and lively discussion.
Lunch was inspired by Samuelsson’s most recent cookbook, “New American Table,” and our menu included seared tuna glazed with maple-Dijon and curried pear-potato salad. One of the book club ladies made Marcus's mom's apple cake. I've made that cake before, but honestly it didn't look nearly as beautiful or taste nearly as good as the one we enjoyed that afternoon. You can read about that day and view more photos over at Marcus's blog (marcussamuelsson.com).
