2010 Trends
The year is quickly coming to a close so this is the perfect time to raise our glasses and toast to several trends that captured my attention and excitement in 2010. My favorite non-food related trend was the return of the watch! So pleased to see many wrists adorned with our friends a time before cell phones. My favorite food related trends follow, although in no particular order.
1. Mason Jars became a hipsters dream green container. Tea, coffee, juice, and water; portable Mason stashed our on-the-go thirst quenchers.
2. Lunch trucks and Korean tacos: enough said.
3. Groupon and other deals gave diners a reason to spend.
4. A growing anti-processed food movement returned attention to reasonable diets.
5. Charcuterie. Oh yes. Charcuterie puts the cute back into bacon, ham, sausage, terrines, galantines, pâtés, and confit.
6. Canning.
7. Farm to school and other food nutrition programs.
