Kräftor Fest

Well, hello there!

We interupt regular State Fair blogging to revel in one of Sweden's most racious and appetizing holidays!  Grab a bib and join us in the slurping!

Mention the month of August and the sport of fish-eating to a "typisk" Swede and you will likely hear about either surströmming or kräftor (crayfish).  Kräftor parties are a celebration of summer and an acknowledgement of its rapidly approaching conclusion (not unlike Minnesota's State Fair).  Lucky Minnesotans in the know headed to ASI last night to indulge in the traditional feast of crayfish, aquavit, and drinking songs.  Cheese, knäckebröd (rye crisp bread), pickled cucumbers, boiled potatoes, and meatballs rounded out the menu.  Heaven.
