Green Pea Greed
Chicken, Pea, Cucumber Salad with
Garlic Scapes, Onions in Yougurt-Herb Dressing
Shelling peas is now a daily ritual. Beneath my nails a thin green sheen is building up as my addiction to fresh peas causes me to hoard them greedily. I pop them like candy, add them raw or blanched to everything from salads to eggs, and hide the stash that thus far I am able to replenish each week at the farmers market. But the end is coming. Pea love is as fleeting as adolescent folly, soon to be replaced by tomatoes and my counters will spill over with sweet red lust.
